How to prepare a rental before its end-of-lease clean

The preparation that matters most is practical: make the agreed areas accessible and share the details that affect the work.

Plan the timing around the move

Choose a clean date that allows the property to be cleared and leaves room for the inspection arrangements in your lease. Share your preferred day early and wait for written confirmation; short-notice availability should never be assumed.

If furniture, boxes or appliances will remain, note that in the quote request. Restricted access can change which surfaces are reachable and should be discussed before the booking.

Arrange entry and building access

Confirm where keys will be collected or returned, whether a building manager needs to approve entry, and whether parking or lift bookings apply. Give clear instructions for gates, alarms and shared entrances without sending sensitive access codes through a public form.

Make sure water and electricity arrangements are suitable for the agreed service. Tell the cleaner about any areas that should not be entered.

Share your agent’s requirements

If your agent expects a specific appliance, carpet, blind or exterior area to be cleaned, include that detail before approving the quote. Specialist carpet work and repairs should appear as separate lines when they are needed.

Before leaving, keep your quote reference and the written scope. Those documents help everyone identify which work was agreed if a question comes up after the clean.
